The Kenai River
During this time of the
year, we are fishing for the largest King Salmon in the world. The "World
Famous" Kenai King. The Kings on the Kenai River average 45 lbs,
with lots of fish in the 59, 60 and 70 lb. class caught every year. The
world record is from the Kenai River, a whopping 97.4 lb. Giant! We catch
these fish using a variety of river fishing methods, we either back-bounce
, backtroll or boondog. All three methods are great producers of big fish.
The Kenai River also hosts large runs of Silver Salmon (Coho), Sockeye
Salmon (Reds)and Pink Salmon (Humpy's). The Kenai River also supports
a large population native Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. The River kicks
out Rainbows over 20 pounds every years. All of which make for some spectacular
flyfishing.
