The Kasilof River
The Kenai River supports a large population of Native Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. Every year this river produces Rainbow Trout over 20 pounds. We use both Fly Rods and Spinning Rods to catch these fish. Beads and Flesh Flies are the baits of choice and catching 10 to 30 fish per trip is not uncommon.
The Kasilof is a small glacier fed river that host a nice populations of King Salmon, Silver Salmon and Steelhead. The Kasilof River is a Drift Boat only river with no motors allowed, this makes a very quiet and enjoyable trip down the river. When you are here on the Kenai Penninsula, don't over look this small stream it will draw you back again and again.
The "World Famous" Kenai River is renowned for having the largest King Salmon in the World. The past few years we have had poor returns and our King Salmon fishing has suffered. The nice thing is the Kenai River supports one of the largest runs of Sockeye or Red Salmon in the world. So during July, we run Combo trips and fish for both King Salmon and Sockeye Salmon. In August and September, the Kenai River hosts a large run of hard fighting Silver Salmon. Also known as Coho Salmon, they are hard fighting and pretty easy to catch. August and September is my favorite time of the year.
